Lunch 2.0 at E-Storm

Jan 17th I attended Lunch 2.0 at the offices of our marketing partner, E-Storm with our mutual client Ugobe and their robotic life form, Pleo in attendance. They had a fantastic turn-out, with a lot of people popping in from MacWorld. The gorgeous weather allowed them to make use of their spectacular rooftop terrace. If you have never been to a Lunch 2.0 event - you should consider attending... you will meet the most interesting people! The SF Chronicle and the WSJ have written articles about them. Lunch 2.0 Events are starting to spread all over the world, and in the SF Bay area there are events in both SF and Silicon Valley.

Steve Jobs Keynote from MacWorld 2008

Steve Jobs gave an enthusiastic introduction to MacWorld - some highlights:

iPhone: in the 200 days that iPhone has been on the market they have sold a whopping 4 million phones! Some new features were announced: location positioning - which is amazing since the iPhone doesn't have any GPS feaures. It is achieved through Google and a company called Skyhook, where they are essentially triangulating information from wi-fi hotspots.

iTunes: is now offering movie rentals from most of the major studios - this is a big leap forward for iTunes where most of the rentals appear to be reasonably priced $3.99 or so. One of the major complaints from consumers has been the price of movie downloads that were as expensive as a DVD. Apple TV is going to make another attempt to deliver movies to your flatscreen tv.

Macbook Air: the worlds thinnest laptop - Jobs demonstrates that it fits inside a standard office envelope!
